Dear BRYC Elite Academy Families,

We hope that you and your family are continuing to shelter-in-place and stay safe.  Most, if not all, of us are dealing with personal, professional, educational, and even financial issues that would have been unthinkable three months ago. The stresses associated with the ongoing public health issues are exacerbated by the uncertainty that we all feel about what comes next and when we’ll be able to return to some sense of normalcy.

In the midst of all of this uncertainty, we at BRYC Elite Academy want to assure you that we are remaining calm and focused. Our dedication to our programs and players is unshakable. While the timeline for the re-opening of Virginia remains fluid, we remain committed to the best interests of our players and their families.

Of course, the decision to return to play is not our own.  We are required to follow the mandates from our state and local jurisdictions.  On April 24th, Governor Northam presented the “Forward Virginia” blueprint, which is designed to help guide the Commonwealth on when to SAFELY begin easing the current restrictions.  This will be a phased approach, one that follows the CDC guidelines and has specific benchmarks in regard to increased testing, PPE and supplies, and medical facility capacity.  Governor Northam indicated that Phase One will begin NO sooner than two weeks to allow for a downward trend in COVID-19 cases.

We are all in uncharted territory, and as a result most of our governing bodies and leagues have not yet made any concrete decisions about the Spring 2020 season.  We will continue to provide you with any updates as we receive them.  In the meantime, we will continue to strategize and plan for multiple scenarios.  Elite Academy staff will continue to their work on developing new and innovative ways to reach our players, with a focus on individual development and maintenance of fitness.  We are also utilizing social media to keep our players connected to each other.  We cannot forget that emotional well-being is just as important as physical well-being. We must remember that we are stronger together.  When we do eventually return to play, BRYC Elite Academy will be ready.

We have received a handful of inquiries regarding refunds or credits for Spring season fees. As stated above, there has been no final decision to cancel the Spring 2020 season.  Therefore, we have not yet made any decision regarding refunds or credits. We fully understand the frustration of the unknown, as that’s where we all live right now.  We will continue to evaluate our financial position, both today and for the future.  If programming becomes impossible for the remainder of the seasonal year, a swift (but studied) decision with respect to registration fees will be made.  As a non-profit organization, we manage our financial position very conservatively. Our Club membership’s long-term best interest is at the forefront of our decision making, and we ask for patience as we plan for the Club's future.

Sincerely,

Mark Dolansky
