Thursday, May 14, 2015

FAIRFAX, Va - The Braddock Road Stars Elite will travel to the Dayton Dutch Lions for a two-game weekend to start off W-League play for the 2015 season.  This will be the first meeting between the two teams as Braddock Road joined the Southeastern Conference in the offseason.

After finishing in second-place in the Northeastern Conference with a 5-6-1 record, Braddock Road earned a trip to the playoffs and the conference title game in their inaugural season in 2014.  The Stars Elite lost co-captain and leading scorer in Marisa Park who will not return for 2015.  Meier will return as captain after scoring four goals and adding three assists in 2014.  Braddock Road will also rely on young talents Annaugh Madsen, Elysse Branton, and Jen Boyles to make an immediate impact in the back over the weekend.

The Dayton Dutch Lions finished 2014 in fourth-place in the Southeastern Conference after going 3-7 last season.  Rose Lavelle, who has signed with the Seattle Sounders Women for the 2015 season, led Dayton with 16 points and was named to the W-League All-Southeastern Conference in 2014.  In her absence, the Dutch Lions have signed a trio of international strikers, Florence Dadson, Ode Fulutudilu, and Nugene Nugent, to add to the Lions strong attacking options this season.

The season opener is set for kickoff at 8 p.m. this Friday at DOC Stadium in West Carrollton, Ohio.  The second game of the two-game weekend will be played on Sunday, May 17, at 12 p.m. Fans can follow on Twitter (@BRStarselite) for game updates.
